RBI guidelines to receiving money through Western Union :

  1. Customers have to declare details such as purpose of remittance and give the details of the Sender
  2. Any single Remittance should not exceed USD 2,500 or its equivalent
  3. Any payment above Rs. 50,000/- shall be made by A/C payee cheque for the whole amount
  4. An individual can receive maximum 30 transactions in a calendar year
  5. Foreign nationals, who produce their passport with Visa (where applicable), can be paid in cash the full amount in INR, maximum amount not exceeding USD 2,500
  6. Minors are not eligible to receive money through Western Union
  7. No commercial transaction can be paid through this mode of transfer
  8. Outbound money transfer through this channel is not allowed

Photo identification proofs that are accepted:

  1. Visits for international conference, trainings, study tour, etc. are treated as business visits
    • Passport
    • Voters Identity Card
    • PAN card along with address proof such as Utility Bills, Nationalized Bank Account statements
